Since V.P. Cheney told us the gravest danger we face is terrorists blowing up a nuclear, chemical or biological weapon in the US, how about if they put a bunch of money into inspecting the shipping containers that come into our harbors? All experts in terrorism agree we are very vulnerable at our major harbors and it is likely that will be the passage for weapons smuggling. I heard an author of "America, the Vulnerable" on the radio say that we spend about $500 million/year on those inspections. We spend about $500 million every 3 days in Iraq. (120 billion so far from March 03-now, which is about 600 days. 120 Billion/600 days = $200 Million per day. Isn't math fun? I love math, it's a good reality check, and it tells the truth.) Bush/Cheney need to put their (our) money where their mouth is. This is important. Osama says he's gonna bankrupt us in Iraq. I don't doubt it. But I hope that doesn't happen before we fortify our infrastructure. |
